By employing the tips, tricks, and strategies that college students use to write, this textbook addresses the common writing problems students encounter. Designed to follow the writing process chapter by chapter, issues ranging from run-on sentences to crafting an original opening paragraph are discussed and analyzed using authentic excerpts from students’ writing. Beginning with developing appropriate topics and ending with a final proofreading, each chapter includes a discussion of difficulties that students encounter, strategies to try out, and real-world examples of students’ work.

Daniel Laurie

Daniel Laurie is in his fifth year of teaching writing courses at SUNY Fredonia, where, as a student, he accumulated degrees in adolescent English education, English, and psychology. His scholarly interests include developing classroom communities, writing workshops, and student-centered pedagogy. When he is not commenting on papers or daydreaming about Ph.D. programs, he has his hands full raising two young sons with his wife, Betsy.
